6.2 Reproduction
(Pg 66)
The learning objectives are mostly good, if not for the following:
- Separating sex and pregnancy, making pregnancy seem like a burden rather than a beautiful natural outcome (12-15 years old)
Should children critique media featuring sexual relationships?
This topic is very good, mainly because it focuses on biological facts rather than promoting gender ideology and sex outside of marriage.
However, there is an odd learning objective for 12-15-year-olds where teenagers must understand the difference between reproductive function and sexual feelings.
The fact is abundantly obvious. What CSE is trying to distinguish is sexual pleasure and the consequence which is pregnancy. The emphasis on pleasure and portraying pregnancy in a negative way is problematic.
Sex is cheapened, pregnancy is degraded. Youths are taught to think of sex as a way to gain pleasure rather than a beautiful exchange with a lifelong spouse in marriage.
Throughout CSE, individual autonomy has been elevated and wrongly treated as an unquestionable “human right”. This belief within CSE is evident when it discusses “unplanned pregnancies” in Topic 8.1.
